Thing #21
I really did enjoy completing the 2.0 learning. So much is going through my head. It has helped me generate ideas of how to use technology in the classroom. The bad side about all of this is that there is only so much time in a day or the school year to incorporate technology. So many good ideas but where do you start. I have made a list and will work on a couple this year and then incorporate more with each coming year. I am sure that some will go by the wayside while others will be center stage. Oh well, life long learning at its best.
Thing #20
With all the new technology, eBooks will be see a big increase in usage. Wow, reading ON technology gadgets. Great for some of us who really like to read. I feel that students would get help using audio books. This would help them with reading and learning the content.
Thing #19
Podcasting is something that I would really, really like to explore more this coming school year. There are so many relevant podcasts out there that could be used in the classroom. But what I really want to do is to have students make their own and post to our class Wiki page.
Thing #18
I have had the pleasure of trying to upload video segments when my 6th graders did their Volcano Glogster. Many videos were blocked due to the district blocking You Tube on student computers however, Teacher Tube worked great.
The Introducing The Book video was quite funny.

What a nice way to keep track of your own books and share. This might be a way to share video between science team members also. I will do some more probing.
Thing #16
Again, something that I like and believe I will use. Last year we had several issues with students working at home (or at school) and then not being able to open at school (or at home). These productivity tools could really help solve that problem. On my new Zoho account, I quickly made a calendar for August. Very simple to use. I also recently used Google Docs and am happy with that experience also. I am pretty sure that I will introduce the students to these tools with Idea #2.
Thing #15
Had some trouble playing in the sandbox. However, I was glad to see the pbworks link to information about any question you may have about how to use and set up your Wiki.
So many ideas...how are we to choose?

Wonderful Wiki's...I worked with Katie W. last year on a Wiki for Environmental Science. I was Wiki illiterate and found it easy to use. The students found it even easier to use. I would love to try the Idea #1 this year. I would use it restricted so that only the students and staff involved would see it and not the world.
So Katie...I am giving you a heads up. I will be looking for your help and advice.

The can of worms has been opened when dealing with technology. I really liked the Fairy Tale and Wanna Work Together videos. They would be good to show the students. I really, really enjoyed the Did You Know 4.0. Technology is growing with lightning speed and we as educators should do our part to help our students learn.
Thing #12
Del.icio.us is exactly what I need. My bookmarks are on so many computers and I have lots of trouble trying to find some of them again. This way I can clean out the ones I have and put them in central location that I can access at school as well as at home. I will start with Mrs. DuBose's blog site.
Thing #11
I totally enjoyed and even got a little sidetracked with this assignment. There is so much out there. I spent a lot of time on Mrs. DuBose's Adventures in Science. It has a lot of information on how to use a blog site with science.
Look out kiddos...blogging in Science.

Whatever you want to find out is out there. This will be great when I have something in mind that I need to find out more about. I prefered the Google one.

Thing #8
RSS feeds would make searching for new info much easier. When I find some sites that I visit regularly I will definitely add them to my Google reader. Maybe as I get the Ning site up and going for Env. Sci, I could monitor the posts easier using RSS feeds.
Thing #7
Technology - it has it's ups and downs. About the time that I feel that I have a good grasp on it and am up to date, something else comes along and BAM! I am starting over again. It feels like there is so much out there that it is hard to keep up. When do people get the time to blog here, twit there and flicker everywhere? I like using technology, but I am one that will have to pick a few and stick with them.

Thing #3
Wow! What fun it is to make an avatar. It was hard to decide if I wanted my avatar to be realistic or make it my alter ego.
Thing #2
The habit that I seem to have the most difficulty with is Habit #3; View problems as challenges. My easiest is #2; Accept responsibility for your own learning. I love learning.
